Ioan Gruffudd Says Yes to "Amazing Grace"

Sep 13, 2005 - "Fantastic Four" star Ioan Gruffudd has taken the starring role in "Amazing Grace" to be directed by Michael Apted ("Enough") from a script by Steven Knight ("Dirty Pretty Things"). Albert Finney has also joined the project.

"Amazing Grace" is based on the true story of British reformer William Wilberforce. Set in early 19th century, the story recounts Wilberforce's successful 20 year fight to abolish the British slave trade.

Kevin Belmonte, the director of Wilberforce Project/Gordon College, is acting as a consultant on the film. Terrence Malick, Edward Pressman, Patricia Heaton, David Hunt, Ken Wales are producing the film which is currently in development.

Ioan Gruffudd is currently filming "The TV Set" with Sigourney Weaver and David Duchovny.
