Toby Wilkins has been tapped to direct The Grudge 3 with filming set to begin in early 2008. Wilkins began as a visual effects artist before making his directorial debut with the horror film Splinter, which is just wrapping up production.
At a press conference for 30 Days of Night before the director was announced, Sam Raimi gave an update on The Grudge 3: "There is a writer working on Grudge 3 right now. He's working on the screenplay. He's going to be getting notes to us in about a week and is going to go back to work on a second draft and try to finish it before the writer's strike.”
Raimi, Rob Tapert, Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane are producing The Grudge 3. There's no word yet on who if anyone will return from previous Grudge casts or which direction the story will go.
