Lois Lowry's "The Giver" to Become a Feature Film

Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) will direct the big screen adaptation of the Lois Lowry novel The Giver for 20th Century Fox and Walden Media. Perelman is also working on the script.

The Giver is set in the future when there is no longer any crime, poverty or sickness. A 12-year-old boy named Jonas is chosen to learn the truth about his utopian society and discovers his society's underlying dark secrets.

Perelman made his directorial debut with House of Sand and Fog and is currently at work on Truce, a dramatic film set in World War I.
