No stranger to big budget action epics, director Roland Emmerich is preparing to tackle yet another epic production - Fantastic Voyage. According to Variety Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, the screenwriting team behind National Treasure, The Shaggy Dog and National Treasure: Book of Secrets, may be signing on to write the script.
Emmerich's resume includes Independence Day, Godzilla (1998), The Patriot, and The Day After Tomorrow. Emmerich recently completed work on 10,000 BC starring Camilla Belle and Steven Strait.
20th Century Fox's new Fantastic Voyage is a remake of the 1966 pic of the same name which starred Raquel Welch, Stephen Boyd, Donald Pleasence, and Jean Del Val. The new version will focus on a dying scientist who has five miniaturized colleagues injected into this bloodstream in order to save his life.
