Sam Raimi Wants to Remake "The Evil Dead"

Ash Rises as "The Evil Dead" is Reborn

It's just a matter of time before every classic horror movie will receive the remake treatment. Now Sam Raimi is revisiting one of the most loved of classics - "The Evil Dead."

Bruce Campbell starred as Ash in the 1981 campy horror flick, which spawned two additional installments, "Evil Dead II," and "Army of Darkness." Though Raimi wrote, directed and produced the original, he won't be behind the camera for this remake. No director has been named as of yet, but Raimi's Ghost House Pictures is in the process of finding the right guy to take on the picture with Raimi, producer Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell closely involved every step of the way.

Senator International's Joe Drake told Variety, "'The Evil Dead' is such a special film to Sam, Rob, Bruce and horror fans that we are going to take great care in renewing this franchise. By keeping its original formula intact and given audiences' appetite for horror, we expect that we'll have a real hit on our hands."
