Karl Urban Signs on to "Doom"

Sept. 2004 - "Lord of the Rings" co-star Karl Urban has signed on to star in "Doom," based on the video game of the same name and set to be directed by "Cradle 2 the Grave" helmer, Andrzej Bartkowiak.

Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and John Wells will be producing the pic, Dave Callahan wrote the screenplay loosely based on "Doom 3", and wrestler-turned-actor The Rock is interested in joining the project.

Production is tentatively scheduled to begin in October 2004.
