"The Alamo" writer/director John Lee Hancock has been chosen by Universal Pictures to write and direct "Dead I Well May Be," based on the novel by Adrian McKinty.

McKinty's book tells the story of an illegal immigrant from Ireland who escapes the troubles in Belfast to become an enforcer for the Irish mob in New York during the early 1990s.

Steve Golin and David Kanter will produce the movie. Commenting about the choice of writer/director John Lee Hancock, Golin told The Hollywood Reporter, "John Lee Hancock is a masterful writer and director. We are confident that he will give Adrian McKinty's novel the screen translation it deserves."
