Steven Soderbergh's biopic Che didn't exactly light the festival circuit on fire, however IFC believes there's enough of an audience out there for Che to make it a worthwhile acquisition. IFC picked up Soderbergh's Ernesto 'Che' Guevara tale at the Toronto Film Festival, but there's no word yet on how the studio plans to release the film which is split into two 2-hour parts.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, IFC will most likely give Che a very limited release in December in order to qualify for this year's awards consideration. That limited release may include back-to-back screenings of the films.
Benicio Del Toro tackles the title role. The film also features Benjamin Bratt, Franka Potente, and Edgar Ramirez.
Del Toro will next be seen in a hairier role, playing a real beast of a guy in Universal Pictures' The Wolfman.
