After the success of the 2004 remake of the classic horror film, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," the producers - Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller - let it be known they were interested in doing a "Texas Chainsaw" prequel. Now it appears that project is about to get off the ground. Jonathan Liebesman ("Darkness Falls") has been hired to direct the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel for Platinum Dunes and New Line Cinema. When I spoke to producers Fuller and Form at the "Amityville Horror" premiere, they informed me that the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel was definitely going to be their next film. The story won't involve any of the kids from the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," but instead will be more of an 'origin of Leatherface' tale.
Sheldon Turner wrote the script to the prequel, with David Schow doing a rewrite. Production on the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel is expected to begin in late summer.
