Joe Johnston has added a superhero movie to his list of projects. The director of Jurassic Park III and Hidalgo has signed on to bring a new Captain America movie to the big screen, according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter.

Marvel Studios is aiming for a 2011 release date for First Avenger: Captain America, which will be followed up by the release of The Avengers movie (featuring Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk). Director Jon Favreau and Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr have already committed to The Avengers, however it's unknown whether Incredible Hulk's Edward Norton would be involved in The Avengers.

Joe Johnston is currently completing work on The Wolf Man starring Benicio Del Toro and Emily Blunt.
