The 1956 film, directed by Mervin LeRoy, shocked audiences when it was initially released and according to Variety Roth claims, "The original was a great psychological thriller, and we are going to bastardize and exploit it, ramping up the body counts and killings." If you've seen Roth's "Cabin Fever," you can almost picture the campiness he'll bring to this story of a killer kid. Roth claims his murderous kid will be love N'Sync and love to kill.
Next up for Roth is "The Box," adapted from a Richard Matheson story by Roth and writer/director Richard Kelly ("Donnie Darko"). The two are working on "The Box" screenplay, with Kelly set to produce and Roth ready to direct.
