Michael Apted to Direct "Amazing Grace"

April 5, 2005 - Walden Media has tapped Michael Apted ("The World is Not Enough") to direct "Amazing Grace," a political drama based on the true story of William Wilberforce.

According to Walden Media's official site, "Amazing Grace" tells the story of the life of Wilberforce, a member of the British Parliament who, in the early 19th century, fought to end slavery in Britain.

Steven Knight wrote the script and Terrence Malick, Ed Pressman, Patricia Heaton, David Hunt, and Ken Wales will produce "Amazing Grace."
