Starting All Over on “Predator” and the John-Claude Van Damme Connection: “They’d worked in LA on the creature and they’d worked it with John-Claude Van Damme. John had some silly idea that he wanted him on wires and walking like a chicken. It was ridiculous. So one day he brought the Predator down and they put it in front of the camera. I told the cameraman to put the lens cap on the camera. He said, ‘Well, you won’t be able to see it.’ I said, ‘That’s the idea.’ So I just said we had to go back. We couldn’t have it.”
Other Dark Castle Projects: “We’re going to start ‘The Reaping’ next, which is not a Dark Castle’s original. A guy named James Cox who did “Wonderland” is going to direct it. We’re putting that one together now. That one will probably start shooting sometime in May. But that’s the next one up. I have a bunch in the process. The studio’s hammering me to do them. But I mean, look, it’s just there’s been a lot of success in horror lately. The only problem is I can’t get into PG-13 Land. I just get stuck in R rated movies, which they would love us to make PG-13 movies but I never get there. But I think that you’ve got to make them different. You’ve got to switch them up. You can’t do the same old s**t. You’ve got to just try to make them different. I see every movie that’s made. I’m dying to see ‘The Ring 2.’ I loved that movie and Tom Cruise is making ‘The Eye,’ which I can’t wait to see. I love these pictures.”
