Feb 5, 2010 - 20th Century Fox may have found a director for This Means War, a comedy set to star Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) and Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line). The Hollywood Reporter says McG (Terminator Salvation) is in negotiations to helm the project which has been kicking around at the studio for over a decade.

This Means War is an action adventure comedy centering around two childhood friends who fall for the same woman (Witherspoon). Fox picked up the spec script back in 1998 for $400,000, according to Baseline StudioSystems. Since then the script has gone thru multiple rewrites, with Timothy Dowling having completed the most recent version.

Witherspoon recently completed work on the still untitled James L Brooks comedy with Jack Nicholson and Paul Rudd. Witherspoon and Rudd previously worked together on the little-seen 1998 romantic comedy Overnight Delivery. Cooper's got Valentine's Day heading into theaters in time for that romantic holiday, and a starring role in the film version of the classic TV series The A-Team invading theaters on June 11th.

McG had been set to direct a new 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea film until Disney halted production last November. On the heels of 20,000 Leagues cancellation Disney also opted out of making Wild Hogs 2 and the Anna Faris/Robin Williams comedy Wedding Banned.
