Lohman cut her teeth in musical theater and landed her first professional role at the age of 9 as Gretyl Von Trapp in The Sound of Music at Palm Desert's McCallum Theater.

Lohman's first starring role in a major feature film came in the 2002 dramatic movie White Oleander alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Renee Zellweger.
