Guide Review - Live Free or Die Hard DVD Review (Unrated Two Disc Edition)
NYPD Detective John McClane reluctantly accepts an assignment to pick up a computer hacker named Matt Farrell (Justin Long). Believing it's just a routine job, McClane's taken completely off-guard when he and Matt are greeted with a hail of bullets while trying to leave Matt's apartment. Unknowingly, Matt has become intimately involved in a cyber terrorist plot to take down America's infrastructure and now McClane must figure out who's behind the attack before they can cripple the United States government.
The Bonus Features
There are two-disc sets that are sort of worthy of the hype, and then there are two-disc sets that exceed expectations. The Live Free or Die Hard Unrated Two-Disc set is one of the latter. There's a huge collection of behind the scenes footage included in featurettes detailing the making of the film. Even for the most diehard Die Hard fans, there's enough info on these discs to satisfy those 'need to know' urges. Plus, the unrated commentary track with director Len Wiseman, Bruce Willis, and editor Nicolas De Toth isn't just one of those tracks where those involved feel the need to congratulate each other on their work. The Live Free or Die Hard commentary actually provides good insight into the whys and hows of the film, as well as what they had to change in order to release it theatrically as a PG-13 film.
