March 18, 2007 - At the March 8th press event for Sony Pictures Animation's CGI surfing penguin movie, Surf's Up, Shia LaBeouf addressed the rumors he's been cast in Indiana Jones 4. According to the in-demand actor, the news of his casting in the fourth film of the Indiana Jones movie franchise is a bit premature.
LaBeouf said, "I haven’t gotten that role yet, it’s just a rumor." Asked where the rumor came from LaBeouf replied, "It’s a rumor started on the internet," before adding, "It’s a great rumor!"
LaBeouf's definitely interested in the part should the deal go down as Variety and other trade magazines are reporting. "Sure, yeah," said LaBeouf in response to whether he'd accept the role in Indy Jones 4. "It would be great if it happened, but it hasn’t yet. And if it does, sure, I’m in. But it’s just a rumor now."
If Shia LaBeouf does sign on to Indiana Jones 4, the star of the upcoming Michael Bay film Transformers would be joining Indiana Jones veterans Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg as well as series newcomer Cate Blanchett.
Indiana Jones 4 is scheduled to begin shooting in early June. Paramount Pictures plans to release Indy 4 on May 22, 2008.
