Tom Cruise was at one point attached to the film which follows four young pilots who compete in extreme flying contests, but is no longer involved in the project. Lautner's three young co-stars haven't been disclosed yet, however we should be hearing casting news soon as production is scheduled to begin in April.
Lautner's popularity soared once teen girls got a look at his shirtless, buffed up body in the second Twilight film, New Moon. Some fence-sitters pledged their allegiance to Team Jacob after seeing Lautner wolf out and get a little romantic with Bella as the relationship evolved between his character and Kristen Stewart's. Lautner also did a terrific job of hosting an episode of Saturday Night Live and just earned the Breakout Movie Actor award at the 2010 People's Choice Awards held January 6th.
He'll next be seen in the third Twilight movie, Eclipse, hitting theaters on June 30, 2010. Lautner recently signed on to star in Max Steel, and he's attached to the action film Cancun.
