March 22, 2007 - Angelina Jolie is set to star in the movie Wanted which will mark the English language debut of Russian director Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch). Production is expected to begin soon with Universal Pictures planning on a March 2008 release.
Wanted is based on a graphic novel by Mark Millar and J G Jones, adapted for the big screen by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas. Dean Georgaris did a rewrite which, according to Variety, tailored a character specifically for Jolie. Also set to star in Wanted are Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy.
Jolie will play an assassin who trains a newbie (McAvoy) drafted into the trade after his father (also an assassin) is murdered.
