It's now official: Angelina Jolie, 33, and Brad Pitt, 44, welcomed two new additions to their family on Saturday, July 12th at 8pm in Nice, France. Dr Michel Sussmann performed a cesarean section on Jolie and delivered a boy and a girl. Knox Leon weighed in at 2.27 kilograms (5 pounds) and Vivienne Marcheline weighed 2.28 kilograms (5.02 pounds). Vivienne Marcheline is named in honor of Jolie's mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, who passed away of ovarian cancer in January 2007.
Dr. Sussmann says the mother, babies and father are "doing marvelously well" according to a statement on La Fondation Lenval's official website.
The birth of Jolie and Pitt's twins follows weeks of speculation over the delivery date. Entertainment Tonight claimed the twins had been born back in early June, citing confirmation from Jolie's personal assistant. Jolie's legal team set the record straight immediately, revealing someone was posing as Jolie's assistant and spreading false information.
New arrivals Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline join Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2 in the Pitt/Jolie clan.
