James Frain on His Character in ”Into the Blue:” Last seen on the hit TV drama, “24,” James Frain now tackles the role of a thug in director John Stockwell’s latest ocean adventure film, “Into the Blue.” “I’m definitely a threatening type. I play an evil drug gang lord who they accidentally kind of get into my clutches.”

James Frain Avoids the Ocean in “Into the Blue:” Frain said that while Jessica Alba, Paul Walker, Scott Caan, and Ashley Scott may have spent 60% of the movie in the water, he avoided that at all costs. “I’m British. I think British people stay away from the water. We like to stay inside yachts. We don’t like to get the sun on our skin. We like to smoke, we like fried bacon, we like dark mystery – a lot of that.”

On Tackling the Role of a Bad Guy: “I’ve done a couple but not for awhile. You have to rein yourself back from [maniacally laughing] because you really want to. I really wanted to.”

On How His Character Interacts with Alba, Caan, Walker and Scott: “I threaten to do them bodily harm when they stumble on my patch.” He threatens, but does he actually get into a fight with any of the foursome? Frain said, “I couldn’t possibly let you know at this point. Not until you see the movie because I would be blowing the storyline - and that would be just terrible.”

James Frain Explains What Sets “Into the Blue” Apart from Other Action Adventure Films: “Paul Walker and Jessica Alba. What else do you need?”

Next Up for James Frain: “I’m going to do an independent film in New York and then I’m going to do another independent film in Dublin. That’s the next two things I’m doing. I don’t know what else I’m doing after that.”

Would he be willing to return to series TV? “I’m sure I would. I’m available (laughing).”
