Ryan McPartlin on Being Fran Drescher’s Boy Toy in the TV Series, “Living with Fran:” McPartlin was introduced to me as Fran’s boy toy and when I asked McPartlin how he felt about that label, he laughed and said he’s given himself the nickname of ‘Fran’s Man.’ McPartlin stars with Drescher in the WB comedy series, executive produced by Drescher and Jamie Kennedy.

Commenting on life on the set of “Living with Fran,” McPartlin said, “Well you know we just got it off the ground this year and we’ve been hashing out our characters. And it’s been great. Fran and I finally have that chemistry by the end of the season that you can really root for. You really want to see this couple succeed, and you really want to see the whole family unit succeed, too, so it’s like ‘Mad About You’ in a way. You’re going to see all the relationship problems a younger man/older woman have.”

Improv on the Set: “You know, the ad-libbing you try to work out ahead of time. But you do it like the writers write it first and then you try something else. Sometimes you have to ad-lib just to keep the live audience entertained and their energy up. So yeah, a little bit, if someone screws up you try and play along and stay in character.”

McPartlin on Handling Screw Ups While Filming “Living with Fran:” “The most embarrassing thing I’ve done when I’m filming has to be…I’ve had meltdowns before where you can’t do anything right and you can’t get your head right, and you just have to laugh at yourself.”
