How did you come up with the voice on the show?
“It’s just basically doing friends of mine that I worked with when I used to do security work. So I totally related to who that guy was. He just kind of came out of me, kind of channeled through me if you will.”
What did they ask you for?
“They said they wanted a big, cigar chewing security guard. And this guy’s a security guard for a Jewish supply warehouse. Again, I used to do bodyguard work, stuff like that. I kind of knew who this guy was and I like to smoke a cigar every once in a while. Only this character likes to eat a few more cookies than I do, but I kind of knew who he was. I identified with the guy right away.”
Do these friends recognize themselves?
“I haven’t seen them in a long time so yeah, I got a couple calls from some old buddies so I think they do. I never said directly, ‘Hey, this is you,’ but I think they do recognize somehow.”
Did you try out for Ocean’s 11 but this is next best thing?
[Laughs] “I had no idea. It was literally a last minute audition, last minute appointment I went on. So I just went in on there and son of a gun, they just called me. That’s all she wrote.
Have you finished 13 episodes?
“Right, we finished 13. Still waiting to see what happens from there. So far so good. Everybody seems to be happy.”
Will they continue having all the gang together?
“Yeah, that definitely plays a big part, us doing surveillance, undercover stuff really badly.”
How many places can all five of you fit?
“They were lucky to find a taxi cab that can fit us, trust me. We’re exploring all those possibilities.”
What should we look forward to?
“There’s one that’s coming up that I really look forward to where we take self-defense training. We have to do a couple of stunts and I had to jump in the air and dive on the air and land on a mat that was only an inch thick. For a big guy like me, you could break a couple bones. But hey, it was fun.”
Are there any tasks that are all on you?
“When I’ve got to, I don’t’ want to spoil the plot, but I get a job and I go in undercover to get more information on how to rob Mick Jagger.”
How does a guy like you go undercover?
“He has an alias name coming up that’s quite unlike what he looks like, trust me. Trust me on this.”
