Cody Kasch Talks About Asylum and Desperate Housewives

From

Zach Young wasn’t in much of Desperate Housewives’s second season, so that freed up Cody Kasch to start a movie career. On the red carpet to promote the show’s second season DVD, we found out more about the film Asylum, which begins filming this year, than about the DVD or Season Three.

What is Asylum about?
“It’s a horror film, you know, it’s a horror film.”

Are you a terrorized teen?
“Sure, I guess again, I’m the terrorized teen. Typecasting, huh?”

Wasn’t Zach more the terrorizer?
“I’d say Zach was more of a victim in the beginning. He let it catch up with him, but I’d say he’s definitely more of a victim.”

You joke, but are you concerned about typecasting?
“Yes, actually. I don’t see the point in having to play the same character over and over again just for the sake of working. And as far as an audience is concerned, what’s the point of having them see you as one type of personality? You should have a smorgasbord of things you could do.”

What will you do differently in Asylum?
“I don't know. I’ll keep it light I suppose.”

What’s coming up for Zach in Season Three?
“I don’t even know. This is my first time back on Wisteria Lane in three months.”

How is it?
“Amazing.”

Is he evil or misunderstood?
“I think the evilness will come from the misunderstanding. To this point now, it’s earthed in and it’s set. The murdering of his grandfather is not very redeeming. I hope that maybe at the end, it will be redeeming but, no, it’s all right. So maybe evil.”

Do you hope Zach gets back together with Julie?
“No. That’s a mismatch there. It wasn’t going to work. I think Zach needs an older woman. Someone to calm him down a little bit, show him that everything’s all right.”

Would you choose one of the Housewives to be that woman?
“Well, they’d have to choose me. Or maybe I could choose them. Sure, I’d line them up and pick which one.”

Which one would you pick?
“Wow, that’s a tough one. I think I’d like them all.”
