We were so happy that Jay Hernandez’s movie career was taking off with a lead role in Hostel, so we were a little surprised that he decided to jump to the small screen. He’ll be on ABC’s new fall drama Six Degrees as a young lawyer who falls for a mysterious stranger played by Erika Christensen. So what does this mean for Hostel 2 and our general plan to make Jay Hernandez the biggest star in Hollywood?

If you’re doing this show now, does that mean Hostel 2 is done?
“No, Hostel 2 is not done. I’m going to be doing it. There’s definitely a scheduling issue but we’re going to try to get around that.”

So not until your hiatus?
“Well, I don't know about my hiatus. I might be able to get some time off. The great thing about the show is there’s potential for having little blocks of time available to do small projects. Jump in, do some work, go away, come back, depending on the situation. So it’s definitely going to be tough but those are my intentions - to maintain a film career.”

Would Hostel 2 really be a small project?
“It would probably demand a lot from but we actually shot Hostel in a pretty short amount of time, so I don't know. I haven’t read the script so I don't know how much work it’s going to be. I’ll find out pretty soon.”

Are you signed for Hostel 2?
“It’s something I just have to work out, but they definitely want me to be a part of it. Scheduling is sort of an issue so if we can figure out something with the scheduling, I’ll definitely be a part of it because I thought it was a great project. I can only imagine what Eli [Roth, writer/director] is going to come up with next.”

Have you talked to Eli?
“No, we were actually supposed to have a meeting before I left but it didn’t happen because I was doing this other project. We’re trying to get together and talk about it.”

Will you get your fingers back?
“No, I think they’re gone. I think it’s out of the question.”

And you also have a starring role in World Trade Center.
“Yeah, I play a Port Authority Officer. I go into the Trade Center on the day of 9/11. Beyond that, I don’t want to talk too much about it because there’s sensitivity with the family and all that, so out of respect I try to not talk about it as much as possible.”

Did you research your character?
“Yeah, it’s the Port Authority so we spent a lot of time with them, went down there to the locker rooms where the guys were. Heard stories firsthand of what exactly took place and what they had to do after, during…”
