Interview with Jerry Bruckheimer at the 2006 Millennium Ball

From Fred Topel, for About.com

There are hardly any more legendary or classy stars than Julie Andrews. Her big break was the Disney classic Mary Poppins, and she still churns out hits for the mouse with the Princess Diaries films. Even though she’s also in the Shrek films for competitor Dreamworks, she lent her star power to this Disney evening.

Julie Andrews Interview

What brings you here?
"I think everybody likes Bob Iger. He’s a great friend and I’m thrilled that he’s being honored tonight because he is a good guy. He’s done wonderful things for this community and this particular center will also do things for this community. I’m very happy to be here. I’m just looking forward to the evening."

What’s next for you?
"I’m working on the new Shrek 3 which I was recording just yesterday. I have another book coming out with my children’s selection for Mother’s Day. I’m thinking about a children’s television program next year. There’s a lot of little tricks up my sleeve as they say."

Do you know Robert Iger from speaking on medical causes together?
"No, tonight is the first really big, big medical cause. I know we probably support the same things but I have my own causes and he’s got many I’m sure on behalf of himself and Disney."

What were your opportunities to be friends with him?
"Mostly, my connection with Disney which goes back a long, long way. Wherever I’ve been, he’s been there in connection with Disney. We’ve, over the years, become good friends."

Will you pitch him your children’s series?
"No, I don't think so. Certainly not tonight I’m not."

What’s up with the Queen in Shrek 3?
"I think you’re going to have to wait and find that out. She’s doing good things and surprising things."

Has that voice work gotten easier the second time around?
"Yeah, this is great fun and it’s going to be a good movie. It’s very good looking. I saw a little bit of it yesterday so it’s great."
