Mark Feuerstein Talks About "In Her Shoes"

Interview with Mark Feuerstein at the Premiere of "In Her Shoes"

By , About.com Guide

Mark Feuerstein on "In Her Shoes" Being Labeled a 'Chick Flick:' "It’s not a chick flick. Guys should go see this movie because if anybody has a brother out there or is interested in their relationship with their family – or enjoys seeing Cameron Diaz in a bikini – this will appeal to you."

Mark Feuerstein on Working with Toni Collette and Cameron Diaz: "They got along so famously. It was so interesting to watch because to me Cameron Diaz is kind of the consummate star who is always beautiful, on, perfect, and Toni Collette is always beautiful and perfect too, but she’s sort of the consummate actress. And the two of them were both completely relaxed all the time and both so brilliant when you turn the camera on - and in each of their respective ways. I mean, Cameron smiles and the whole room lights up. Toni cries and everyone was sobbing. It was a one-two punch."

Mark Feuerstein on His Attraction to "In Her Shoes:" "When I read the script I was crying. I loved this story, so to be part of it in any capacity was a dream for me. But to get to play the one male lead in this movie opposite Toni Collette... Playing a guy who loves food, which is me. Playing a guy who is upfront and honest about what he feels. It was just a dream for me."

Mark Feuerstein on "In Her Shoes" Director Curtis Hanson: "He was amazing. There was this moment where I was like trying to do too much in the scene. He just said, ‘Mark, this guy is simple. You do a lot in life to compensate for insecurity. This guy is not like that. He just is who he is and he says what he feels and he says what he means.’ Which, I think, is something we can all try to aspire to in life. He set me on the right course and from then on, I really felt like I was in the zone."

Mark Feuerstein's Next Project: "I did a film in the Hamptons this summer called ‘Shut Up and Sing.’ It’s an independent film, very cute. It was really fun. Who knows? After this movie comes out maybe something good will come along. I can only dream."

What is "Shut up and Sing?" "It’s about a bunch of guys who were in a singing group in college together. Mid-30s and they’re all having breakdowns in their marriage and their lives and their relationships. I play one of those guys."
