Guide Review - 'I Am Legend' DVD Review
Scientist Robert Neville (Smith) is immune from a deadly virus which has wiped out most of the earth's human population. Virtually alone in New York City, Neville spends his days sending out radio messages and trying to find a cure for the virus which turned normal human beings into horrible vampire-like creatures who come out only at night. Neville's only real companion is his dog, Sam, who's all he has left of his family.
Neville and Sam have been on their own for three years, and believe they have a daily routine which will keep them safe from the infected. But Neville has underestimated the Infected, in particular one creature who appears to the leader of the gang that lives in Neville's city. Even as Neville tries to figure out a cure, the Infected try and find a way to get to Neville and kill him.
The Bonus Features
The I Am Legend Two-Disc Special Edition DVD is really only special because it contains the original theatrical release and an alternate theatrical version with what the DVD cover advertises as a 'controversial ending'. There will be those who abhor the alternate ending but for me personally, it's the version I most enjoyed watching. Other than this alternate cut, there's very little on the DVD itself. Just 4 animated comics and that's it. But if you pop the DVD into your computer, you can get a digital copy of the movie and access more behind-the-scenes info.
