Robert Ri’chard on the Paris Hilton Strip Tease Scene: “It wasn’t crazy. We were relaxed and professional. I’ve had my shirt off and she’s had her shirt off in scenes before.”
First Reaction to the “House of Wax” Script: “You know, I loved it. I loved being a part of this project. I read it and I fell in love with it and then I went out and got it. Then when they told me that they actually hired me, I was jumping up and down screaming and going crazy. I told my dad about it and my girlfriend. Everyone.”
Had He Watched the Original “House of Wax” Film with Vincent Price?: “Yes, I sure did. When I got the part the first thing I did was I went out and got ‘House of Wax’ and checked it and compared it to our script. There’s some differences but I mean, ultimately, it’s really thrilling and exciting and I think everyone out here is going to love it.”
The One Scene That’ll Grab Horror Fans: “Okay, there’s this one scene – oh, I shouldn’t tell you this… There’s this one scene where they’re taking the wax and they’re spreading it over Elisha’s mouth – Elisha Cuthbert’s mouth. And then the killer blows on the wax right in front of her lips. It’s kind of one of those things that’s kind of like really seductive but also really scary. So I think the girls are going to freak out about that because I’m sure girls have nightmares about that kind of stuff.”
There are Lots of Horror Remakes Out There. What Separates “House of Wax” from the Pack?: “I think this is really a thrill ride that they’re going to go on. They’re going to be scared and it’s going to be a lot of fun and whatnot. And it’s young people and they’re all Hollywood hot stars and whatnot so… I think everyone’s going to go out and enjoy it.”
On Having an MTV Crew Follow the Cast Around: “It was sort of surreal. You’d go about your daily life, you’d buy groceries and get food and what not, but then when someone’s documenting you it seems a little bit [surreal].”
Watch What You Say. It May Be on TV: Ri’chard claims he didn’t have to be careful about how he talked off the set, even with the MTV crew following him around. “I don’t really have that much of a potty mouth but I’m sure it can be a little invasive of your privacy,” said Ri’chard.
