On Being Greeted by Fans Screaming His Name: Hundreds of fans lined up across the street from the “House of Wax” Premiere in Los Angeles, screaming out the names of their favorite “House of Wax” stars in hopes of getting an autograph or even a friendly wave. The fans who yelled their hearts out for Jared Padalecki were among the loudest. How strange is it to hear your name being shouted so enthusiastically by fans of all ages? Padalecki says, ‘It’s absolutely still surreal. I keep looking around for Jared Leto or something. I’m like sure Jared ‘Somebody Else’ is around.”

Jared Padalecki on the Appeal of Horror Movies: “For me it’s like a roller coaster. It’s the same reason you go to a theme park. You strap yourself to the seat and you sit down and you take it for a ride. Your stomach is up and down and your pulse is racing. Your heart’s pumping and your adrenaline’s going. And you forget about your life for a second. All of a sudden you’re having a fun time. You’re in the moment and you forget about doing the dishes and doing the homework and all that other crap you have to do in your life.”

Filming “House of Wax” in Australia: “I had a great time. I flew Sandy [McCoy] out. She and I flew out and we went to the Great Barrier Reef and went scuba diving. It was so beautiful. Australia’s so beautiful. Everybody is like, ‘It’s the Outback. It’s going to be sand…’ It’s gorgeous. It’s green and the Great Barrier Reef is a wonder of the world.”

”House of Wax” vs. Other Horror Movie Remakes: “This one? It’s different than everything. It’s not only a horror remake, it’s sort of a generation flick, with all the young kids in it and the music and the special effects and the sound effects. It’s a fun movie. Even if you don’t like horror movies, it’s going to be fun to go and watch.”

Memories from the Set and His Favorite Day of Filming: After joking that his favorite days on the set were his days off, Padalecki confessed he really did have a good time just hanging out with the rest of the cast. “We had a good time. As much as I’d like to say it was the hot wax sequence, it definitely was not. We just had a good time. Sometimes we’d take a football and Chad [Michael Murray] and I would throw the football around and just play Xbox in the trailer and just have a good time. So usually my favorite day on set was when I didn’t have to work too much.”

Next Up for Jared Padalecki: “Cry Wolf:” “I did it with Sandy McCoy. She’s my girlfriend. It’s a sort of thriller with a message. That’s the best way I can sum it up with one line. I play a guy named Tom who’s sort of a rich preppie, prep school kid with too much pride who ends up getting himself in trouble.”

Sandy McCoy, who accompanied Padalecki on the red carpet for the “House of Wax” premiere, plays Mercedes in “Cry Wolf.” McCoy described Mercedes as “the popular girl who is popular for no good reason.” Boyfriend Padalecki expanded on that definition by adding, “She’s the hot one.”
