Guide Review - Hot Fuzz DVD Review
Nicholas Angel (Pegg) is such a good cop that he puts every single one of his fellow officers to shame. The fact that his arrest rate is astronomically higher than everyone else in their department means the only way for everyone else to look good is to ship Angel out to another duty post.
Angel's new post is the seemingly little sleepy town of Sandford. Everyone in the village knows each other and everyone appears to be law-abiding citizens. But appearances can be deceiving. It doesn't take long for top cop Angel to figure out there's a lot more going on in Sandford than meets the eye.
The Bonus Features
The bonus features include an abundance of deleted scenes - 22, yes, 22 - with optional commentary by Edgar Wright. Most are extended takes of scenes from the film and all are worth checking out as is the very funny 10 minute outtake reel (Simon Pegg's horseback skills seem to indicate he'll never star in a Western). The collection of bonus features also includes a Fuzz-O-Meter that allows viewers to watch the movie while trivia about the film pops up under selected scenes. That's fairly interesting though if you have to choose between the additional feature length tracks, then the commentary track with Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg is the better choice of the two. The "Hot Fuzz" bonus track is a montage of scenes/jokes from the film but cleaned up for airing on TV. And the "Fuzzball Rally" featurette has clips of the Hot Fuzz guys as they toured across the United States meeting fans and promoting the film.
Overall the Hot Fuzz DVD doesn't disappoint fans of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. With its above average supply of bonus features, the DVD is a worthy addition to any video library.
