The Bottom Line

Forget about the fact "Hitch" is a romantic comedy. It's the one-two punch of Will Smith and scene-stealer Kevin James that makes this laugher worth checking out.

Guide Review - "Hitch" DVD Review

Will Smith stars as Hitch, a man who has love on his mind. Well, not love in the sense that he wants to get all monogamous with that special someone. He's more into being the guy who makes love happen for other people. In fact, it's what he gets paid to do.

Hitch's love doctor duties take him all over New York, interacting with men who are clueless as to how to attract their ideal dates. While out on one of his missions, Hitch bumps into Sara Melas (Eva Mendes). While he's not exactly looking to hook up, Sara is so intriguing she totally captures the love doctor's heart.

Kevin James co-stars as Albert Brennaman, one of the hapless men who Hitch tutors in the art of romance. Albert's got a big-time crush on society heiress Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta), a woman so out of his league that they're not even competing in the same sport. With Hitch's help, Albert blossoms into the kind of man Allegra takes notice of.

DVD Bonus Features

I'm a fan of commentary tracks and it's too bad this one didn't have one. Other than that small complaint, the extra content on this DVD is in some cases funnier than the movie. The 'Dance Steps Made Easy' featurette is almost worth the price of the DVD on its own.
