Catching up with the beautiful actress at the World Premiere of "Hide and Seek," I had the chance to find out what it was like to work opposite De Niro and what sets this scary film apart from other thrillers.
INTERVIEW WITH ELISABETH SHUE ('Elizabeth'):
How would you describe your character and did you have to do anything special to prepare for working opposite Robert De Niro?
(Laughing) Quell my beating heart! No, I play a sort of lonely young woman who is sort of looking for some adventure and she befriends Robert De Niros character because shes kind of lonely. And then she has a very big surprise happen to her sort of half-way, three quarters of the way through the movie.
What grabbed you about this script?
I thought it was very intelligently written and the surprises you do not see coming. And really just that Robert De Niro was in it, and Dakota Fanning. When you see them and you read the script, then you know it will be a great film.
What sets "Hide and Seek" apart from other thrillers, besides the fact its got De Niro?
I think because its psychologically interesting, because it does have a relationship between a father and a daughter who are overcoming a lot of pain in their lives so that sort of informs where the horror is coming from. Its not just horror for horrors sake. It sort of works on both levels, which makes it better.
What scares you?
The dark. The dark and the woods.
How was working on Dreamer with Dakota Fanning?
I had a great, great time.
"Dreamer" has to do with horse racing and the Breeder's Cup. Did you have to act around the horses?
Yeah, a little bit. Well, I was her mom so you know how moms are. Sometimes they have to be in the kitchen too much (laughing). But I did go in the barn every once in a while.
