Tom Hanks will take on the starring role in "Talk of the Town," a comedy movie based on an idea he pitched to Nia Vardalos.

Vardalos and Hanks worked together on "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." Hanks produced that pic which Vardalos starred in and wrote. The two have maintained a close working relationship since then.

According to Variety, "Talk of the Town" will involve Hanks having to undertake a career change when he least expects it.

"Talk of the Town" will be produced by Hanks and his producing partner Gary Goetzman.

Universal hasn't disclosed when they expect filming to begin.

Multiple Oscar-winner Tom Hanks will next be seen in the big screen adaption of Dan Brown's best-selling novel, "The Da Vinci Code." Hanks is in pre-production on "Charlie Wilson's War" based on the true story of a Texas congressman who aided Afghanistan rebels.
