The "Zodiac" movie is based on the books by Robert Graysmith, and Gyllenhaal will portray Graysmith in the film. Graysmith wrote "Zodiac" and "Zodiac Unmasked," two in-depth investigative books on the Zodiac Killer, a man who hunted down victims in San Francisco in the '60s and '70s, and to this day has never been caught. Author/Zodiac researcher Graysmith claims he knows the killer's identity.
Robert Downey Jr. will play reporter Paul Avery who worked at the San Francisco Chronicle with Graysmith. Ruffalo will star as a San Francisco homicide inspector.
Jake Gyllenhaal will next be seen in "Jarhead" with Jamie Foxx and "Brokeback Mountain" with Heath Ledger. Mark Ruffalo just finished work on the remake of "All the King's Men." Robert Downey Jr. has "Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang" and "Good Night, and Good Luck" set for release in 2005.
