Variety is reporting Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain) will be teaming up with director Doug Liman (Mr and Mrs Smith) for a film about lunar colonization. According to Variety, the as-yet-untitled Moon Project has been put on the fast track at DreamWorks.
Liman and John Hamburg (writer/director Along Came Polly) came up with the original story idea. Mark Bowden is reworking the script.
Jake Gyllenhaal will next be seen in the dramatic thriller Rendition co-starring Reese Witherspoon and Peter Sarsgaard. Doug Liman recently completed work on Jumper, a sci-fi adventure film starring Hayden Christensen.
