The Bottom Line

Yes, "Guess Who" is an Ashton Kutcher/Bernie Mac comedy so you're right in assuming the jokes are going to come flying at you fast and furiously. But "Guess Who" is also a sweet romantic comedy.

"Guess Who" is a funny, totally non-offensive date movie worth checking out whether or not you're a fan of the comedy stylings of the two male leads.

  • Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac play well off of one another
  • Cute story with a great message
  • Good collection of DVD bonus features

  • None worth noting

  • Commentary track by director Kevin Rodney Sullivan
  • Short Gag Reel - Not as funny as you'd expect from a Kutcher/Mac film
  • 7 Deleted Scenes - They're good but wouldn't have added much to the finished film
  • "Love is the Melody" - Great behind the scenes featurette with cast and director interviews
  • DVD Release Date: August 2, 2005

Guide Review - "Guess Who" DVD Review

Ashton Kutcher stars as Simon, a successful stockbroker who is head over heels in love with struggling artist, Theresa Jones (Zoe Saldana). The two are so in love that they're ready to take the big leap and get married. But there's one slight problem... Simon hasn't met Theresa's parents yet, and her dad, Percy (Bernie Mac), is extremely protective of his beautiful daughter.

Theresa decides the perfect place to introduce her parents to the man she hopes to spend the rest of her life with will be at their 25th anniversary party. When Percy hears the news, he decides the best course of action is to run an extensive credit check on Simon. When it comes up clean, Percy's ready to give his blessing. But when the two show up at his home, Percy discovers there's a lot about a man you can't tell simply by checking on his financial history - like his ethnic background.
