Guide Review - Ghost Rider DVD Review
For those not up on the Ghost Rider comics, the story follows a motorcyle stuntman who makes a deal with the devil and becomes a fiery crusader against rogue demons. The film stars Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider with Eva Mendes portraying his childhood sweetheart Roxanne. In order to save his father and the girl of his dreams, teenager Johnny Blaze has no alternative but to agree to forge a deal with Mephistopheles (Peter Fonda). In exchange for saving his dad and Roxanne, an adult Johnny Blaze - now a motorcycle stuntman - transforms into the Ghost Rider. In his fiery form, the Ghost Rider patrols the streets hunting down demons causing trouble.
The action heats up when Mephistopheles reappears in Johnny Blaze's life and offers him a shot at getting back his soul. If Johnny Blaze agrees to hunt down Blackheart (Wes Bentley), then he'll tear up the deal and Johnny will have his life back...
The Bonus Features
The two commentary tracks are about what you'd expect from a comic book-inspired movie's DVD. There's a lot of talk on how scenes were staged and a lot of praising the cast - in particular Nicolas Cage. The two Making Of featurettes on the one-disc DVD version are lengthy, informative and entertaining.
