Apr 17, 2007 - The cast of the Universal Pictures/Playtone movie version of the hit musical Mamma Mia! is really filling out. The Hollywood Reporter reports Colin Firth, Christine Baranski and Stellan Skarsgard are the latest names to sign up for the big screen musical.
Already set to star in Mamma Mia! are Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, and Pierce Brosnan. The movie is based on the musical which features 22 songs by ABBA including Dancing Queen and Take a Chance on Me.
Phyllida Lloyd will be making her feature film directorial debut with Mamma Mia!. Catherine Johnson wrote the script and Gary Goetzman and Judy Craymer will produce the film. Production is expected to begin this June.
Colin Firth will next be seen in The Accidental Husband with Uma Thurman and also has The Last Legion and Then She Found Me in the works. Stellan Skarsgard's been busy reprising his role of Bootstrap Bill Turner in the third Pirates movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
