Channing Tatum Talks About "Fighting"
Channing Tatum reunites with his "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" director Dito Montiel for "Fighting," a gritty, intriguing look at underground fighting and mixed martial arts. As the title suggests, "Fighting" is all fighting, but the strange thing is this film wasn't originally about that. No, Tatum says when he first heard about the project it revolved around basketball.
Movie Review: "Fighting"
While fighting dominates the trailer for "Fighting," it is not the focal point of the film itself. This one's more about the struggles of two troubled men, and that may make those who came just for the action sequences impatient and antsy. Dito Montiel doesn't rush through the story and those wanting basically a MMA match onscreen are barking up the wrong tree.
Terrence Howard on "Fighting"
Oscar nominee Terrence Howard was a huge fan of Channing Tatum and writer/director Dito Montiel's first film together, "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints." After watching "Saints" Howard ran into Tatum at Sundance and suggested that they keep each other in mind for a future project. The opportunity to work together came with "Fighting," an intense look at street fighting set in New York.
