The original "Miami Vice" television series starred a scruffy-faced Don Johnson ('Crockett') and Philip Michael Thomas ('Tubbs'). The series was known for making a statement on men's fashion and it seemed every young adult male in the mid-1980s copied Johnson's look.
"Miami Vice" TV series executive producer Michael Mann is in negotiations with Universal to write, direct, and produce the movie.
Jamie Foxx recently co-starred with Tom Cruise in "Collateral" and will next be seen in "Ray," the Ray Charles biopic that's creating a lot of Oscar buzz. Colin Farrell recently worked with Oliver Stone on "Alexander," which will be released in November 2004.
