Neil Jordan ("Breakfast on Pluto") wrote and will direct "Borgia" with Jack Rapke, Christopher Eberts, and Chris Roberts producing the film. "Borgia" is a passion project of Jordan's. He almost had the film set to go before the cameras three years ago with Ewan McGregor and Christina Ricci in the starring roles. Financing fell through and the project was shelved until recently when Farrell and Johansson expressed interest in being a part of the film.
"Borgia" tells the story of Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia, a powerful man who took over papal duties after the death of the pope in 1492. Farrell and Johansson will play two of Borgia's children. There's no word yet on who will star as Rodrigo Borgia.
Colin Farrell is currently filming "Miami Vice" with Jamie Foxx. Farrell also has "The New World" with Christian Bale set for release in December 2005.
Scarlett Johansson recently completed work on "The Black Dahlia" for director Brian De Palma and is in the process of filming the Woody Allen comedy, "Scoop."
