The Bottom Line

I never in a million years thought I'd type the words 'bowling' and 'entertaining' in the same sentence but I'm about to. This documentary film about the world of bowling and bowlers is captivating, entertaining, and insightful. Even if you hate the sport of bowling (and I'm sorry but I still don't personally consider it a sport), "A League of Ordinary Gentlemen" is a must-see.

Guide Review - "A League of Ordinary Gentlemen" DVD Review

The engrossing documentary film "A League of Ordinary Gentlemen" handles the sport/leisure activity of bowling with exactly the right amount of comedy and drama. For those of us who've never stopped to consider the people who make a living by rolling a ball down an alley and knocking over pins, this documentary will open your eyes to the interesting world of professional bowlers.

The documentary provides an in-depth look at the sport of bowling over the years, from the time when it was one of America's top leisure time activities to its current state. Questions are answered that most of us never thought of asking as the guys who live to bowl are profiled in this delightful film from director Chris Browne.

The "A League of Ordinary Gentlemen" DVD contains an above average collection of bonus features, including deleted scenes and a music video. The featurettes are almost as good as the film itself so don't skip over them. Take the time and check out everything on this DVD - you won't be disappointed.
