Guide Review - Kinky Boots DVD Review
The story follows Charlie Price (Joel Edgerton), a decent guy who is forced into taking over his family's shoe business when his father passes away. The factory's not doing well and Charlie doesn't want to let down - or have to let go of - his loyal workers. But if things don't immediately start to perk up business-wise, Charlie will have to close down the decades-old factory.
Desperate from trying to figure out what to do with the business, Charlie winds up drunk in an alley where he saves a lovely lass who turns out to be a cabaret singing drag queen named Lola (Chiwetel Ejiofor). Lola tells Charlie that one of the major problems in her life is that the flimsy footwear available to transvestites isn't sturdy enough to support her frame. This, of course, inspires Charlie into making - you guessed it - kinky boots. And not just kinky boots, but shoes of all sorts designed specifically for Lola and her fellow drag queens.
