The Bottom Line

I dare you to watch "The Flight That Fought Back" and remain dry-eyed.

Narrated by Kiefer Sutherland, Discovery Channel's "The Flight That Fought Back" provides an in-depth, harrowing look at what may have occurred aboard the doomed flight. Using eye witness accounts, recordings, phone records, and other research, "The Flight That Fought Back" provides a glimpse at the lives of 40 strangers who came together to take back an airplane.

Cons

  • Should have come with a 'must have a box of tissues to watch this program' warning

  • Airs without commercial interruptions
  • Directed by Bruce Goodison
  • Narrated by "24" star Kiefer Sutherland

Guide Review - "The Flight That Fought Back" Review

On September 11, 2005 at 9pm ET/PT, Discovery Channel will air "The Flight That Fought Back," a 90 minute special which focuses on the heroes who died aboard United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11, 2001.

It'd be fair to say the majority of Americans are aware of the fact the passengers and crew aboard Flight 93 gave their lives while trying to take back their plane from terrorists on a suicide mission. However it'd also be safe to say most Americans know practically nothing about the 40 brave souls (33 passengers and 7 crew members) who perished when Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, PA.

Through the cooperation of friends and family members of the deceased passengers and crew, "The Flight That Fought Back" allows us to discover who these people were, why they got on to that particular flight, and how - even though they were strangers - they were able to bond together and come up with a plan to overtake their hijackers.

"The Flight That Fought Back" incorporates actual voice recordings as well as testimony from family members as to what was going through the minds of many of the people aboard Flight 93 shortly before it plummeted into the earth. This heart-wrenching account remains true to its subjects, doesn't politicize the issue, and through reenactments provides the most comprehensive look at Flight 93 to date.

the flight that fought back review, Member frankstoga

a very dramatic story of the doomed passengers on flight 44 on september 11 2001. It will make your eyes water when they interview the passengers familys and close ones. With real calls the passengers made to there families. I think you should watch it and find out how horrible september 11 really is.
