Guide Review - "Doom" DVD Review
"Doom" - The Story
The Rock stars as Sarge, the bad-ass leader of a bunch of rippling muscled men (including Karl Urban as John Grimm) called the Rapid Response Tactical Squad. Sarge and his men are given the duty of checking out what happened to a group of researchers on a remote Martian outpost. Once there, the heavily-armed, well-trained unit have to fight for the survival of mankind against some of the creepiest creatures ever to be featured in a video game-turned-movie.
The Bonus Features
I'm sure there were outtakes and extra scenes but this DVD is void of those sort of bonus features. Instead there's plenty of behind-the-scenes featurettes which are decent - if not a little redundant.
Final Words
The effects are decent, the acting is about what you'd expect from a movie headlined by The Rock, and the pacing is fast enough that time virtually flies by. As long as you're not worried about a plot, then "Doom" is an okay popcorn flick that doesn't tax your brain or leave a lasting impression.
