Guide Review - Disturbia DVD Review
The StoryAfter his dad is killed in a tragic car accident, Kale (Shia LaBeouf) acts out by making trouble at school. Repeated rule violations and a physical altercation with one of his teachers leads to police involvement. The punishment - Kale's placed on house arrest. With a tracking bracelet fastened securely around his ankle, Kale's forced into spending his summer vacation playing around on the computer and spying on his neighbors.
Fortunately for the troubled teen, a real hottie (played by Sarah Roemer) moves in next door to brighten up the scenery. But while eye candy fills the view from one of his windows, things elsewhere in the seemingly peaceful suburban neighborhood aren't as they seem. There's a serial killer on the loose and Kale believes it might just be one of his other neighbors...
The Bonus Features
The free-flowing commentary track is worth a listen as the director and his two young stars seem to have fun talking about the adventure of making Disturbia. Plus, how many commentary tracks have you listened to that were repeatedly interrupted by the director answering his cell phone? That's how spontaneous and loose the commentary track actually is. Another special treat worth checking out is the trivia pop up feature. Viewed with this feature on, trivia about the making of the film, sets, and other info will pop up during specific scenes.
The outtakes reel is short but fun, featuring a bunch of bloopers from the fishing scene with Shia LaBeouf and Matt Craven. The four deleted scenes included on the DVD are all relatively short and actually each would have worked in the film. The Making Of featurette is the standard fare, with the usual cast and filmmaker interviews.
