Oct 24, 2007 - Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese (The Departed) is reuniting with one of his favorite actors, Leonardo DiCaprio, for Shutter Island. The pair previously worked together on Gangs of New York, The Aviator, and The Departed and have been looking for another project for a while.
Laeta Kalogridis (Alexander, Pathfinder) is adapting the Dennis Lehane novel for the big screen. Lehane's novel is set in 1954 and follows US Marshals Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, two partners assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient - a murderess - from the Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on the Paramount Pictures/Columbia Pictures film will begin in March 2008.
