Director Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are considering making Paramount Pictures' "The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt" their next joint project.

The two have previously worked together on "Gangs of New York" and "The Aviator" and are currently at work on "The Departed," a crime thriller filming in Massachusetts.

Based on the prize-winning book by Edmund Morris, "The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt" follows the emergence of Theodore Roosevelt from a privileged politician to the leader of the Rough Riders and onto the U.S. presidency.

Scorsese, DiCaprio, Daniella Taplin, and Brad Simpson will produce the film. "The Human Stain" screenwriter Nicholas Meyer is working on the script.
