"Aviator" Team Reunites for a Remake of "Drunken Angel"

Feb. 2005 - According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, and John Logan are in early negotiations to remake Akira Kurosawa's "Drunken Angel" for Warner Bros.

Kurosawa's classic 1948 film centered around a gangster who is diagnosed and treated for tuberculosis by an alcoholic doctor. The remake would star Leonardo DiCaprio, with Martin Scorsese directing and John Logan writing the script. DiCaprio, Scorsese, and Logan recently worked together on the critically acclaimed "The Aviator."

Before "Drunken Angel," Scorsese and DiCaprio will film "The Departed" based on the Hong Kong film, "Infernal Affairs." Filming on the "Infernal Affairs" remake is expected to begin in April 2005.
